Umzumbe

Our annual holiday between Christmas and New Year was spent at Umzumbe beach on the Kwazulu Natal south coast this year. Thanks to our wonderful hosts Carol and Jane. The weather was amazing, with very little rain or wind, which is slightly unseasonal, but we were not complaining.

Christmas 2009

It's always great to spend time with family at Christmas.

George Rugby Sevens

We drove down to George for a long weekend to watch the International Rugby Sevens tournament. We stayed in a wonderful beach house and had a good time, despite the fact that the SA team did not do that well and that the party in George is not quite up to Hong Kong standards!
We made great Amabokke hard hats - rugby versions of the SA soccer fan's hat of choice, as you will all see come World Cup time.

Maizefield Farm

There has been so much rain this summer at the farm, which is great for the farm, but which has put a damper on a few summer parties. The dam is very full and everything is so wonderfully green. We do love spending time at Maizefield in the summer.

Bike Rally for the Achar Boys

Neil and a few old friends travelled on the Shoshaloza Express - train from Joburg to the Cape - with their motorbikes in a goods compartment and hopped off at Worster to bike all the way back via the dirt roads of the Cape and the far reaches of the Karoo. Don't ask me how the nickname Achar Boys came about, but for those of you who do not know this, achar is a very spicy green mango pickle!?
