Crossing back into France we headed to Nice on the French Riviera for a few days and found a small campsite in Cagnes sur Mer. Saturday meant a really early start for all day rugby watching at Ma Nolan's, with time for lunch and shopping in between . Nice is a nice city, with "nice" beaches and a "nice" old quarter to stroll around in. We took a day trip to Cannes; not nearly as "nice" as Nice. Then we made our way to our all time favourite part of Italy - Piedmont and found one of the best campsites of the summer just outside the town of Barolo. We come to Piedmont to eat and although we were disappointed to find that our favourite restaurant at Pedeggeria was closed because the family was away on holiday, we had plenty of other excellent options. I can recommend Alberto Dell' Agenzia at the Slow Food University near Bra. We had delicious pasta at La Lumaca which is made with thirty eight egg yolks to one kg of flour! We are definitely going to try this recipe with our fresh pasta maker at the farm! I hope someone volunteers to make a lot of meringue for dessert to use up all those egg whites. We crossed into Switzerland through the St. Gottard tunnel and it was raining on the northern side of the Alps and I don't think it's stopped since. We spent time in Lucerne, Zurich and Basel before heading to Assling to stay with Elizabeth. And then it was on to Munich for a week before packing Homer off to the farm for the winter.
