Lockdown for One Hundred Days!
Lives have changed in many ways
Exotic places I have been
Now I'm a stay home blogging queen
No cocktail lounges quoffing wine
Now he's in bed by half past nine
She used to flash Louis Vuitton
Now she's at work with PJ's on
From roaring crowds at rugby matches
To cooking rusks in giant batches
From restaurants with Michelin stars
To sourdough starters and pickling jars
There was a time before What's App
Now all we do is Zoom and chat
Wearing masks in public places
Never seeing people's faces
Here's to us all, we're safe and well
But slightly nuts or can't you tell?
So raise your glasses dearest friends
To a real fat jol when all this ends!
100...
It's also July 4th. Wishing all our American friends and family a happy and healthy holiday. In celebration I cooked Pot Roast Pulled Pork. I'm going to blow my own "vuvuzela" here but it was awesome. Tender, smokey and delicious. And there's still lots left...
American BBQ in all it's forms is one of our all time favourite cuisines. On our US roadtrip in 2016, we tried 21 different BBQ joints across 10 states..a delicious achievement!
And for dessert we crossed the Atlantic for Crêpe Suzette's. My version was a Franco/Saffa fusion recipe with Van Der Hum Naartjie sauce.
So although flights are grounded, borders are closed and we are somewhere in the African bush, we can go anywhere we choose through our food.
