The Dordogne

We spent a night in Cognac, yes the famous"brandy" town before heading to the Dordogne to stay with Francis for 3 nights. Sadly, Dave was away working but we had good weather and a great time. We went to a wonderful Michelin star restaurant ( the Dordogne is famous for Fois Gras and duck ) and enjoyed great hospitality and their wonderful home. There are loads of English expats living in this part of France. The hillsides, farm villages and chateaux are most beautiful.

Brittany, France

Neil and I spent some time in Brittany, France and the weather finally decided it was summer. We stayed at a great campsite in the north at Port Blanc, from a setting point of view, right on the beach, facing west for the sunset. The sea goes out miles at low tide. Brittany is pretty, some medieval towns have a lot of character; others area bit too touristy and over run by visitors.
In the south we spent a few nights in Trinite Sur Mer, near Carnac. The beaches were nice and not too busy. We did quite a bit of cycling. Life in Homer is good; relaxed and slowish but discovering new places is still a lot of fun.

French Wine

We have been ambling through a few wine regions over the last few days! Alsace, Champagne and now quite a few appellations in the Loire Valley!! The weather is improving very slowly; the company, food and wine are just excellent!

Paris

We spent 6 days in Paris. We went to Roland Garros for 2 days of the French Open.We saw good tennis but it rained a lot and so we spent quite a few hours sitting on the stadium steps waiting for play to resume. We spent our days in Paris in art museums or strolling the streets and had plenty of good french food and wine. Natalie and James joined us and even enjoyed the rainy camping!
