Zebula and Pilanesberg

Eric, Naomi and Ryan joined us for a golf and safari trip to Zebula and Pilanesberg. We did horse riding at Zebula and the game viewing in Pilansberg was very good. We had excellent sightings of lion, elephant and rhino. We took our off road caravan, called Che, for a test run before the Southern Africa trip in May.

Dam Good Time

February at the farm is just the best month of the whole summer. What more can we say!

Hard work on the boat and a busy January

We traveled from Natal via the Transkei and the Garden Route to Hermanus and Capetown for a week with the family. We went to the cricket at Newlands - on the hottest day of the year - and spent a couple of days in the Winelands. Next time you are in Franschoek you must eat at Reubens Restaurant and a trip to Ernie Els' wine estate near Somerset West is a must. And visit the Cape between January and March if you want good weather!

Neil spent quite a few days up at Saldanah Bay, working very hard to get the boat out of the water, dismantled and onto the trailer, which has been custom built to trail the catamaran behind the bakkie all over Africa. The boat will be renamed Dr. Livingstone and the first leg of the epic journey from Capetown to the Vaal Dam is now complete. We did the drive of about 1400 kms over 2 days, with 24 hours of actual traveling time.

We also spent another great weekend at Zebula and did a bike trip to the Lowveld in the Dullstroom/Lydenberg area. We stayed with Andrew and Terri at their Trout Lodge. We also spent a night in Witbank. The place has changed almost beyond recognition since we lived there in the late eighties; a testimony to the economic growth and changed political landscape over the last 15 years.
