Rome, Tuscany and Piedmont

We spent a week heading through Northern Italy and into France. We chose a different route from last year, but kept stopping off at some of our old favourites. We had two days in Rome for Neil's favourite gelato and among other things, the street cafes and people watching. We visited Montelcino; home of the famous Brunello red wine and still loved the Tuscan landscape. Lucca was revisited for the free WiFi in the campsite - just kidding - and a restaurant that serves the best Melanzano Parmegano I have ever eaten. We spent more time in Siena than last year.
In Piedmont, we were disappointed to find that Beppe and Giovanna were not opening their restaurant the night we were there and with my limited Italian I could not work out why! The trip across the Alps and into Provence was amazingly scenic.
