Chameleons are great little creatures and sadly we don't see them in SA suburban gardens like we used to when I was a child. Vivienne told me they only drink dew drops and are therefore very susceptible to environmental pollutants that settle on leaves. When we were in the Kruger we saw a little one in the road. He crossed under our car and so we waited and waited for him to appear on the other side. When he didn't come out, Neil went to investigate and found he had crawled into the wheel rim. He wouldn't leave, even with gentle prodding with a stick and held on for dear life with his little opposing digits. When he started climbing into the engine, we had to prise him loose with a bit more force and send him on his way.
