Phuket 2019 : The Parties

Moody's Cafe
Off Bangla Rd so if you want a slightly more relaxed evening this is it. Moody and his band are the best in Patong.

Lion Music Bar
This very loud band draws a crowd every night and is my favourite on Bangla Rd.
Soi Freedom and Tao Bangla
Down a soi off Bangla so it's a bit quieter. The closest bar to the band has changed owner, name and staff since last year. Added bonus of some ladyboy caberet in-between sets.
Hippie Road
The bike parking off San Sabai now has a cluster of bars, most of which are pretty quiet. Hippie Rd has a pretty good rock band playing from midnight onwards. The Harley crowd like it because they can park right outside.

Jammin' Bar
Reggae Bar on Beach Rd; very chilled, outdoor space open very late.
Tums
A tiny old place in Soi Seadragon, Bangla Rd with a live band from 11pm. Neil likes it.

2 Chefs
Off Bangla. Decent food and a quieter 2 piece band.

Rocking Angels
Tiny Blues bar in Phuket Town to go to after dinner.

Ka Jok See
In Phuket town. A fantasy, great food and still the best party in the world. Not always easy to get a booking.
Black Horse Bar
Old favourite on Bangla to sit and people watch. DJ plays our kind of music.

Heroes Bar
Our other Bangla Bar, louder than  Black Horse makes chatting harder.
RWC games were shown with commentary.

Lillie's Aussie Bar
All the tiki shacks at OTOP have moved down to one end but still a great place to meet when some of your group give up on the shopping before the others. Cocktails and choosing your own You Tube music videos often ends up in a bit of a party.

San Sabai Sport's Bar
Saw the Bokke beat England and become RWC Champions here amongst all the English expats.
Love that the bar girls crocheted special coasters for the event.

Phuket 2019 : The Food

Phuket 2019 : "Better for Dinner" Restaurants around Patong

Le Versace and Cafe de Paris
The best French chefs in Patong.
The 3 course menus are good value and they do the best steak in Phuket. Le Versace is on a hill above Patong with great views of the city lights at night.

Tantra
The one and only place we go to for Indian cuisine in Phuket.

Amena e Core
We hunted for a good Italian place with a wood - fired pizza oven and homemade pasta and we found Amena e Core.
The added bonus is that it's in a soi off Bangla Rd. Load up on good food before the party.

Naughty Nuri's
This is a franchise of the infamous Nuri's in Bali. The best ribs in Phuket, truffle fries and good cocktails. A nice outdoorsy atmosphere and a band playing covers.
Paan Yah
Up the hill in Kalim with good Thai food and a wonderful view.
Sea Salt and Home Kitchen
Divine happy hour cocktails with a good sunset view at Sea Salt. Stay on for dinner or walk up the road into Kalim to quirky Home Kitchen.
The menu is not as adventurous as it used to be but you'll always have a great meal here. They have Thai and Western options if your group is mixed.
Amina Burger
When you're heading home in the early hours and you're feeling peckish.

"Better for Lunch" Restaurants around Patong

Fuji at Jungceylon
Best Japanese food on the Island.
We try something new every time we go.
Great Aircon.

Song Pee Nong
An old favourite for the last 15 years. Good basic Thai.
They still do the set lunch menu for us even though it's been off the menu for years.

Kaab Gluay
Best Thai food in Patong according to the locals and at a great price. It's right opposite our condo and they do take-aways. Interesting menu with lots of things you won't find in more touristy places.
Good Aircon.

Wine Connection at Banana Walk
On the beach road with a bit of a view and a bit if a breeze. Decent wine at off the shelf prices. The  pizza/pasta, salad and a soft drink lunch special is a steal at 199bt!!

Irish Times at Jungceylon
For a great Sunday Roast and okay wine by the glass.

Phuket Town

Ta Lab Khao
Traditional Thai food in an historic building at good prices. Lots of locals.

Phuket 2019: The Beaches

We're in Phuket for two months. We're loving it. It's the place I chill and recharge. I've even caught up on this blog! Larry and Jean joined us for a few weeks. They got it. They had an amazing time. There're too many great moments to write about but hopefully the pictures will tell the story. Or at least part of it. Nikki and Ranj popped over from Singapore for a weekend. Peter, Nana, Rob and Joy drove down from Hua Hin for a week. Barbara and Gavin came from Hong Kong for a few days. Michael and Lisa, too. We also hung out with our favourite locals..Debbie, Gary and Blaze. More, fun, more good times. Thanks for great memories.

 Beach and Waterside Restaurant combos

We prefer these to Beach Clubs and rather than renting a lounger for the whole day, we claim a table with a view. You can swim and lie out on the sand all you want and there's always cold beer, cocktails, coffee and food back at the table. And toilets.

Koh Rang Yai
Still the best. Catch a long tail boat from Laem Hin. Arrive early. Reserved deckchairs and private  dining with your feet in the sand.
Leave by 2pm when the island hopping day tours get annoying.

Northern Patong and Ocean Restaurant/ The Rocks
Our local beach.
Ocean Restaurant has a great view.
And even better..The Rocks or No Name restaurant reopened.
Central Patong and Sole Mio
Sole Mio has been our all time favourite sunset spot for 10 years. Come late afternoon for swimming followed by happy hour cocktails. Or just come for happy hour cocktails.
The sunsets are different every day.
Brasserie Yacht Club at Ao Yon Beach
Chilled atmosphere, good quality food and wine. Great massage place next door. With an option to shower and head into Phuket Town for the evening.
Merlin Beach and Little Tiger.
Go at high tide for swimming. Stay for sunset. Or pop around to Kn for a view of  Patong Bay before heading back to Patong.

Kamala Beach and Deng's.
Come for a late breakfast. Stay as long as you want to.
They have mats if you want to dry off or tan a bit.

Surin Beach and one of the food shacks.
Shade and cheap cocktails.
