Rainy and overcast. Chats on Zoom and What's app. It's good to keep focussed on the positives but our conversations inevitably turn to the ever broadening impact that lockdown is having on everyone in big and small ways. Provincial borders closed until Stage 2. Family visits banned until Stage 2. Hairdressers closed until Stage 1. Such uncertainty for hospitality and tourism. Weddings that may have to be postponed. How your wine stocks are holding out. And the more serious concerns about health, the economy and people's livelihoods.
I made coronation chicken wraps for brunch.
We braaied rump steak and boerwors for dinner. We had a visit from a very creepy spider. ( on the inside of the window!) I turned around for a minute to put my phone down and it was gone!

I think it must have been Std 2 (Grade 4 ) at Brighton Beach Primary School and our class teacher Mrs. Koen, who taught us an Afrikaans poem highlighting "verkleinwoorde." ( Diminutive form of nouns )
Daar's 'n apie
Op 'n stokkie
By my ma se agterdeur,
Daar's 'n gaatjie
In sy broekie
En sy stertjie hang daar deur.
