Kruger National Park, Talamati : Lockdown Day 192 - Sunday 4 October

Up at 5.30am and on the road by 6 am to go back to the lions. There are a total of 4 males taking turns to eat and rest at the carcass. Vultures have gathered in the trees but none are attempting to land anywhere near the carcass.
We drove to Orpen Gate for coffee and to pick up a data signal.
Neil's FedEx parcel has gone missing, so we needed to follow that up and download photos and the Sunday papers. Back at the chalet we had a brunch with lots of wine which necessitated an afternoon nap. Just what Sundays are for.
We drove a circular route and when we got back to the lion kill there were over 12 hyenas hanging about in the road and plenty of vultures in the trees. The lions will never let the hyenas near the carcass while they are still eating. I wonder how long they are prepared to sit and wait.
