Henties Bay and Cape Cross, Namibia

Sunday 28 February
Lockdown Day 339
After one last trip to the German Bakery we headed north out of Swakopmund towards Henties Bay.
Pretty soon you get sense of being far away from everything - just the bleak and windswept landscape and glimpses of the sea.
We went up to Cape Cross. The seal colony is home to up to 250 000 seals. I was grateful to wear my mask because the stench is pretty overwhelming. We returned to a very quiet Henties Bay for the night. Henties is a mecca for fishermen  and has grown tremendously over the last few decades but it's not going to win any prizes for architecture or town planning. I have never seen such ugly, monstrous beach houses.Unless you love fishing you might as well spend an extra night in Swakopmund. We did enjoy our braai with a sea view though.
