Zambezi Mubala Tented Camp, Katima Mulilo, Namibia...and to SA

Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 March
Lockdown Day 356 to 359
We came to Katima Mulilo to get our PCR tests done in order to be able to travel back into South Africa via Botswana. And then on to Zambezi Mubala to wait for the results. The camp is situated on the river with lovely shaded gardens and a pool. The water level is very high at the moment which has helped to fill Lake Kariba. Victoria Falls is apparently superb at the moment and Moremi NP in the Okavango Delta is closed to tourists due to flooding. We chose another self catering option and spent the day catching up on some admin and dipping into the pool from time to time. In the afternoon we took another fishing trip. Fishing was slower but it was great to be out on the water and we did see lots of birds. Our bird list is up to 190 for the trip. Friday became a waiting game for PCR results and by lunch time after chatting to the lab staff in Windhoek, we realised we would have to spend another night in Katima because the Ngoma border closes at 6pm. The results arrived at 5.30pm. By 6am on Saturday we were on the road. We did 2 sets of borders with an 8 hour drive through Botswana in between. By 6pm our braai fire was on the go at Klippan River Lodge. We are back in South Africa.
