Marakele National Park

Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 April
Lockdown Day 380 to 381
Saturday morning and more of the potholed R572 to Alldays, Swartwater and Lephalale. And then the R510 to Thabazimbi. It's an interesting part of the country, the Bosveld; five hours of driving through nothing but game farms. We have been to Marakele quite a few times over the years, usually camping at Bontle Campsite. This time we are at the tented camp on the Tlopi Dam, in the company of the resident hippo all day. Tommy sent me a cute video clip of his nephew's little son trying to say "hippopotomus" but it comes out  "hippotonomus". Rather a good word I think.
1.Hippotonomus. (Adj.) Living a cool, chilled life on one's own terms, likes to party at night... That's Neil and I... As in - "I miss my hippotonomus lifestyle".
2. Hippotonomus. (Adj.) chilling out alone.. Can be grumpy if disturbed...
Neil not me!.. As in - "Neil enjoyed a hippotonomus Sunday lie-in, reading the papers".
And yes, I probably have gone hippotonomusly nuts! Especially seeing as the accompanying photo is of the rhinoceroses we saw on our drive!😉
