Homer 2022: Munich

Thursday 5 May to Tuesday 10 May

After nearly 3 years in storage old Homer started on the first turn. May 2022 is the start of our 15th year of retirement and full time travel. But it's only the 13th year in Homer in Europe due to 2 years of Covid travel restrictions.

Back at Kampinplatz Thalkirchen we had to do lots of cleaning and laundry and a few repairs. The weekend weather was cold and wet. We are adapting to vanlife in Europe after 2 years of camping in wild and wonderful Southern Africa. Munich's campsite is on the Isar River opposite the zoo, so hearing the lions roar each night helped us settle in.

We enjoyed a braai at Pat and Markus'.

We caught up with mates, ate some of our favourite Bavarian dishes and drank wine instead of beer even in the Beer Gardens.

And to get us even more into the Italian swing of things before setting out on our 'viaggio incedibile', we enjoyed a wonderful meal at Tavernetta.
