Happy Valentine's Day!

We drove from Mountain Zebra NP  to Mokala NP on a scenic route. Craddock. We found a great deli and coffee shop called Karoo Lane Farmstall in Hofmeyr. Steynsburg. 

Philipolis is where Laurens Van der Post is from.

Luckhof. Koffiefontein. All the towns were desserted and many looked sad and rundown too. Neil said it felt post-apocalyptic; like a scene out of Deon Meyer's novel Fever; which is a bit scary concidering we are in the middle of a pandemic. We did see a bit of a crowd at the Gariep Dam; all out for a Sunday drive to see the dam over 100% full.

And in the Freestate we were astounded to see so many pans,vleis and dams full of water and birds after all the rain.

On Monday we drove through to Upington. We spent two pleasant nights at Tshahitsi Lodge to end off the Northern Cape and Karoo adventure where we had started on 7 January.

On Tuesday we drove out to Augrabies via Keimos and Kakamas to see the Falls in flood.

We stocked up on groceries and other supplies and got the vital negative Covid certificates in preparation for a trip into Namibia.
